Whitewater rafting on the Kaweah River in Southern California

The Kaweah River is the steepest river in the lower 48 United States. It drops an amazing 12,000 feet in 20 miles. In its last 10 miles just outside of Sequoia National Park the gradient lessens to just under a hundred feet per mile while still maintaining the continuous nature of its rapids. It is in this section that Sequoia Adventures conducts its Kaweah River rafting trips.

The Kaweah is a free flowing river depending on snowfall to provide raftable flows in the spring and early summer. The normal Kaweah River rafting season lasts from mid-March to early July (early June in dry years and early August in wet years) with peak flows late May to early June.

We raft several sections of the Kaweah River ranging from class II-III (beginner to intermediate) to class IV (intermediate to advanced) and class V (advanced to extreme). Early  and late season flows are generally class III and class IV. Peak season flows range from class IV to class V.

Please browse our website to view the trips that we run, reservation and trip information, picture gallery, directions and FAQ section. We hope that you will join us for a Kaweah River rafting trip this season and let us show you why the Kaweah is our favorite river and one of the most exciting rivers in California.

Feel free to call us if you have any questions or would like to make a reservation. If there is anything we can do to assist your visit to Three Rivers Californiarafting on the Kaweah River, Sequoia National Park or Three Rivers Hideaway, give us a call. This is our home and we know it well.

We look forward to hearing from you and sharing our passion for the Kaweah River with you. See you on the river!
